Irvine, CA (August 17, 2001) SARGENT, a premier name in the architectural hardware industry, has incorporated HID's embedded proximity (eProx) technology into its new Low Profile line of battery-operated locks. SARGENT provides the proximity feature alone or in combination with a keypad for added security. Available in a wide range of nine architectural finishes, the locks provide a contemporary, stylized look. They can be used with cylindrical or mortise locksets and rim or mortise exit devices. Applications include computer rooms, storage areas, classrooms and tenant spaces.
The battery-powered proximity locks are compatible with HID's 26-bit standard format and Corporate 1000 35-bit format, as well as SARGENT's proprietary 33-bit format. They can be used with HID proximity cards or key fobs. The battery is powerful enough to enable thousands of openings (80,000 cycles per battery). SofLink™ Plus software, an access control management program for Windows 95 or higher, allows programming via a laptop.
"Adding eProx technology to SARGENT's locks enables the use of just one card for all readers and locks," said John Menzel, Director of Technology Integration. "SARGENT is a class leader in architectural hardware and their new design is functional and very attractive. The proximity locks easily fit into the large installed base of HID online readers and credentials."
"SARGENT is looking forward to the many opportunities presented by integrating HID's market leading proximity technology into our battery-operated products," said Diane Karpinski, SARGENT Manager of Technical Applications & Marketing. "The synergies between us will further enhance our position as leaders in our respective markets."
