As an Compliance Engineer in Engineering department you will will report to the business unit and will work closely with the Global Compliance Engineering team and is needed to meet the sales growth of HID Products worldwide and the increasing demands of global certifications. We seek a regulatory engineer with background and understanding of EMI/EMC, Radio and Environmental Standards compliance to attain required agency approvals for new and existing products, along with the ability to produce quality results and contribute to assigned projects within the company.


What you will be doing:

  • Identify regional sales and import regulations and requirements regarding Product compliance. Interpret legal requirements and standards for efficient execution of compliance. The scope of certifications extends to North America, Mexico, Central America, South America, Middle East/North Africa, South Africa, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Russia, Turkey, Central Asia, South Asia, East Asia, Japan, Southeastern Asia and Australia/New Zealand and other regions.
  • Own and drive compliance requirements into HID products. Interface with project teams on a regular basis to ensure new designs will meet the requirements for global regions for both ITE and Radio equipment. This relates to regulatory compliance in two areas:
    • Compliance of products to International Standards (FCC, CE, RoHS Recast, UL, WEEE, REACH etc.)
    • Compliance to export laws and regulations (Including Export Administration Regulations (EAR), localized Export Compliance) as they are needed by global Product sales.
  • Organize, execute compliance testing of products on production-level units (FCC, CE : EMC & Electrical Safety) in 3rd party compliance certification labs. Prepare technical files for agency submittal.
  • Assist and obtain environmental/materials compliance for HID products to ensure compliance to regulatory standards such as RoHS Recast, REACH, California Proposition 65, WEEE, Conflict Minerals, etc.
  • Assist in product Safety evaluations and submittal preparations as necessary, and UL File maintenance.
  • Engage with ODMs and CMs on compliance requirements and schedules.
  • Provide cross-functional guidance to draft the product-specific regulatory test requirements, monitor and update test status, and drive tests to completion. Ensure new and existing products, components, and materials comply with pertinent regulations world-wide.
  • Establish, track and research applicable regulatory requirements to demonstrate compliance for hardware products. Manage the preparation, signature, submittal, sharing, and archival of all regulatory documentation (Compliance Declarations of Conformity, Technical Construction Files, Testing reports, etc.). Keep all documents complying the latest rules and policy.


What we are looking for:

Education and/or Experience          

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or other Technical degree required
  • Five years minimum work experience in a regulatory compliance engineering position
  • Knowledge of standards and regional requirements is desired.
  • Experience with lab test equipment including receivers, spectrum analyzers, generators, amplifiers and antennas
  • Five years of experience in radio device and information technology equipment desired


Language Skills                   

  • Ability to effectively communicate in the English language verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical journals, specifications, international technical standards, etc.                       


Computer Skills     

  • Proficient in MS Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Familiar with operating systems, such as Windows, etc.

  • The ideal candidate to be successful must have an interest in applied Electromagnetics’ and general materials engineering and must have a strong desire to understand regulatory compliance from a test, design and global view point.
  • This individual must be a self-starter with a keen interest in proper RF designs to meet compliance requirements and strong problem solving skills.
  • The desire to be team player who will work with regulatory agencies, laboratories, the compliance team, management, customers, and engineering.
  • The Ability to influence the development of new or changed produce designs. The Knowledge of the following regulatory standards is desirable but not absolutely necessary:
    • RoHS II/REACH California Prop 65
    • FCC Parts 2 &15 ETSI Radio Standards
    • China Radio Certification Taiwan Radio Certification
    • Korea Radio Certification Japan Radio Certification
    • Mexico Radio Certification Brazil Radio Certification
    • UL 294 IEC 60950
    • Other regional regularity and regional requirements may be required
  • Ability to conduct product emissions and susceptibility tests, data acquisition and processing, and test report generation. Compliance is governed by regulatory requirements for radio devices, ranging from Low Frequency to Microwave.
  • Ability to perform regulatory EMC and radio compliance testing including, preliminary measurements within a GTEM Chamber.
  • Ability to mitigate excessive spurious emissions, both Conducted and Radiated, in new designs is desirable.
  • Previous experience within EU Radio Device Directives is preferred but not required.
  • Understanding the regulatory compliance and the ability to work with the customer to ensure their needs are met
  • Exceeding the customer’s experience by producing results, contributing to the projects and follow through with customer requests
  • Familiar with MS Office applications, TILE EMC Measurement Software, etc.
