As the Senior Oracle Apps DBA/Platform Administrator you will be responsible for the administration of Oracle e-Business Suite (EBS), Oracle database, Oracle middleware and related technologies and integrated platforms for IaaS, PaaS and DbaaS services. Responsibilities include Upgrades, Installation, Maintenance, operational tasks, topology builds for the underlying EBS technology, Applications and database including setting up Single Sign-ON, managing integration services using Oracle integrated SOA gateway, Weblogic Administration, SOA middleware support for a large and growing e-Commerce, pricing and distributed technology landscape. The role also requires database administration including backup, recovery, performance tuning and administration of oracle databases and setting up high availability and Disaster recovery architecture for enterprise applications and databases. The role requires exercise of discretion and independent judgement in evaluation of user requests/requirements, architecting, determining and implementing an optimum technology solution and related documentation by applying best practices and DBA tasks. The ideal candidate will work with DBA’s, integration SME, Cloud Engineers, Security teams, infrastructure teams, Project Managers, Change Management team and other counterparts and internal IT teams.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

  • Establish, contribute to and adhere to all key departmental operating procedures around governance, project management, software lifecycle management, change management and application controls
  • Provide oversight on key delivery of application topology solutions and enhancements as needed in Oracle technology space
  • Performs Oracle EBS Applications database administration (DBA) tasks including patching (adop cycle and opatch), cloning, creating backup and recovery strategies, upgrading, performance tuning/optimization of Oracle EBS systems for recoverability, security, confidentiality, and integrity.
  • Utilizes Oracle EBS R12 Applications DBA (AD) utilities to perform maintenance of the multi-node e-Business Suite environment with Shared File System, managing and administering Concurrent Managers, Concurrent Programs, Request Sets, Request Groups, Workflows, and troubleshooting Workflow Mailer/Notification issues;
  • Maintain a clustered database (RAC) to provide performance, scalability, and resilience with Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM) and Oracle Cluster Ready Services (CRS) in a Linux operating system (O/S); Experience with Cloning, Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) and Data Guard for backup and disaster recovery;
  • Use Oracle Application Manager (OAM) and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) Grid Control for proactive monitoring and notification of system status.
  • Administer WebLogic/SOA Suite environment and drive Single Sign On implementation using Oracle Identity cloud service (IDCS) and similar technologies.
  • Enable Integrated SOA Gateway to allow REST-API services exposed for consumption by various entities.
  • Enable and maintain Oracle Cloud PaaS service offerings including but not limited to IDCS, OIC, DBAAS, IAAS (running oracle environments) and JCS.
  • Understand Procedural Language/Structured Query Language (PL/SQL) packages, shell for task automation.
  • Performs administration and maintenance of the Oracle Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) Suite, Oracle Agile and Oracle WebLogic Server to support Oracle ERP system integration with legacy systems.
  • Reviews, develops, recommends, enforces, and adheres to database policies and standards Develops new standard operating procedures (SOPs) for Oracle EBS application software installation and configuration including high availability and disaster recovery solutions. Recommends changes and participates in the implementation and follow-on management of upgrades or replacements.
  • Evaluates critical Oracle EBS security issues (content, internal controls, access levels, etc.) and makes recommendations, such as disaster recovery plans and upgrades to new versions of Oracle EBS R12 or successor releases.
  • Communicates and interacts effectively with internal and external business contacts including, but not limited to, other members of the unit/team, other HID employees (such as managers, supervisors, and support staff), contractors, and vendors.
  • Performing Code and patch migration from nonprod to production environment using the deployed tool or manually by adhering to the set change migration policies and procedures laid out by the company.
  • Team player and able to support during different shifts for project and production support.
  • Act as the SME, provide guidance, to offshore DBA and other teams members.
  • Work with business users and IT colleagues to provide solutions to match business needs
  • Ensure technological documentation is created and updated
  • Ensure adherence to internal service management, ITIL guidelines and internal SLAs
  • Adhere to all key departmental operating procedures around governance, project management, software lifecycle management, change management and application controls
  • Act as a liaison between the Functional/Technical teams and infrastructure teams
  • Ensure stability and performance of Oracle Applications production instance at all times and update the system capacity and resources proactively.
  • Create and manage Oracle Support Service Requests as and when required
  • Perform other tasks and responsibilities as requested


  • At least 8+ years of demonstrated expert level IT experience in Oracle technologies with minimum of 6+ years as an Application DBA and 4+ years as Core Oracle DBA
  • Must have implemented and participated on at least two or more EBS upgrades and database upgrades with Real Application Clusters.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience with Oracle Weblogic Administration and related technologies.
  • Demonstrated expert level experience in implementation of various topologies in EBS space particularly High Availability, Disaster Recovery architecture and Shared Appltop.
  • Demonstrated expert level experience in integrating EBS to external systems particularly EBS Integrated SOA gateway.
  • Must have implemented Single Sign-On feature in EBS environment with LDAP tool
  • Must possess hands on experience with working with oracle PaaS products particularly IDCS, OIC, JCS and DBAAS.
  • Experienced with installing, maintaining, upgrading oracle EBS (Ver 12.2.x)  and Oracle Database (11g, R12, 18c/19c) with different topologies.
  • Hands On experience with Oracle Real Applications Clusters (RAC) to maintain a clustered database to provide performance, scalability, and resilience with Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM) and Oracle Cluster Ready Services (CRS) in a Linux operating system (O/S); Experience with Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) and Data Guard for backup and disaster recovery.
  • Demonstrated expertise in writing shell scripts to maintain and manage oracle environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in the understanding of the Oracle EBS 12.2.x technology stack, dual file system, online patching, ADOP
  • Expert in using Online patching feature of Oracle EBS 12.2 and maintaining multiple filesystems (Appltops) to enable the feature.
  • Worked on the environments running on Oracle cloud Infrastructure with understanding of various components including Load Balancers for Oracle Applications, LDAP and SSL
  • Working experience with offshore DBA’s and other team members across the globe.

Education and/or Experience          

  • Bachelors or master’s degree in computer science, information systems or demonstrated equivalent education and relevant work experience
  • Minimum of 8 years of IT specific experience related to Oracle Application DBA and Oracle DBA with various topologies and versions.
  • Minimum of 8 years of knowledge and experience working on enterprise applications

Computer Skills     

  • Oracle EBS DBA toolsets required: SQL, PL/SQL, Integrated SOA gateway, UNIX, scripting, Shell, Toad, Code Migration tools (kintana or similar), OEM, Oracle Application Manager, ADOP, adpatch, opatch, AD utilities, SOAP-UI, Perl, sftp, ftp, winscp, putty, vnc, version control tools, and other tools/protocols.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Familiar with operating systems, such as Windows, Oracle Enterprise Linux, etc.
  • Familiarity with Oracle cloud PAAS offerings (IDCS, OIC), IAAS concepts and DBAAS/JCS concepts and usage
  • Working knowledge of Oracle Analytics cloud, EDQ, OEMM, EMCDS is a plus
