The Global Buyer will play a pivotal role in ensuring HID Global exceeds customer expectations through the delivery of best in class procurement execution. This role is to ensure that inventory is in place in designated regions to support and exceed production configuration and customer demands or expectations. Leading supplier management and coordinating with Regional Buyers and Global Planners as appropriate to ensure alignment across regions. Acts as the key point of interface between Demand Planning, Sourcing, Supply Planning and Suppliers and effectively communicates to ensure execution of the Supply Plan. Drives ‘On Time Delivery’ performance and Inventory turns improvements through Supply Chain best practice underpinned by strong professional relationships with HID Business Units and Contract Manufacturing partners.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead and monitor the execution of Procure to Pay (P2P) and tactical procurement processes, in compliance with global and regional standards, in procuring materials and services from both internal and external suppliers.
  • Oversee the effective delivery of end-to-end service globally ensuring the proper execution of the P2P process: from requisition handling, to PO placement and tracking, to PO changes, to PO close.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for assigned supplier(s) around PO management, invoicing, etc.  The Global Buyer will serve as the primary point of contact to streamline communication with the suppliers and serve as the first line of escalation around any issues with which they need assistance.
  • Own, manage and maintain supplier relationship(s) as assigned regarding tactical, day-to-day performance.
  • Manage and review supplier key performance metrics on a monthly basis and drive accountability with supplier(s) to develop improvement plans when required.
  • Run weekly meetings with the supplier(s) and regional buyers to review PO status, scheduling updates and other routine activities related to PO management
  • Coordinate monthly supply plan reviews with each supply planner and appropriate regional buyers to ensure all are in alignment with supply plans before they are communicated to the suppliers.
  • Manage and coordinate allocation of supply to the regions with suppliers during times of shortage based on guidance from the Head of Business Operations.
  • Analyze key component/material consumption and make suitable recommendations to Demand or Supply Planning highlighting exceptions and opportunities for improvement as appropriate.
  • Develop and implement strategies for buying commodities from suppliers. Analyze global demands for the assigned commodities. Command proficiency in commodities and buying processes and update as required.
  • Contribute towards ensuring that integration of new, replacement and obsolete products, as well as the integration of new business acquisitions are managed using best practice business methods.
  • Ensure compliance with global Standard Operating Procedures as documented and maintained by Procurement and suggest updates/changes as appropriate.
  • Investigate and/or interview potential local suppliers to determine if they meet the specified requirements.
  • Own, manage and maintain proper inventory levels on assigned commodities based on forecast requirement and replenishment strategy.  Monitor through inventory turns and monthly performance reviews.
  • Review and maintain data integrity on products including Item Master, lead-times, pricing, and other master data elements as required in the company’s ERP system, Oracle.
  • Perform cost analysis as required.
  • Ensure that materials are delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price, and meet the quality standards of the company.
  • Maintain accurate control of purchase orders, amendments, Advanced Shipment Notices, and other related documents.
  • Coordinate appropriate methods needed to distribute materials in an efficient and cost effective manner in collaboration with logistics and receiving teams.
  • Participate in routine meetings as required.
  • Work closely with production control team to ensure alignment on product availability and external lead-time communication for exceptional customer experience.
  • Assist in reconciling purchase order and invoice variances with Accounts Payable team as required.
  • Work with fulfillment centers and 3rd Party Logistics providers as needed on receiving discrepancies.

Education and/or Experience          

  • BA/BS degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or closely related field required
  • Must have at least 5 years purchasing or relevant supply chain experience.
  • Possess superior data analytical skills
  • Possess excellent problem solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to perform and produce results in multifunctional teams is required
  • Must present a positive and cooperative attitude.
  • Must be comfortable speaking with and presenting to all levels of management
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Previous experience with MRP replenishment systems is required

 

Language Skills                   

  • Ability to effectively communicate in the English language verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical journals, specifications, international technical standards, etc.              

 

Computer Skills     

  • Proficient in MS Office applications, such as Word, Excel, VBA, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Familiar with operating systems, such as Windows, etc.
  • Experience with Oracle Rev 12 highly desirable.
  • Experience with Tableau software preferred.

Work Requirements
